In a small village of Rajasthan, India, a man named Ravi Shankar took the initiative to transform his community through the power of education. Growing up in poverty, Ravi understood the value of education and the role it played in breaking free from the cycle of poverty.
💡 The Journey
Inspired by his own struggles, Ravi set up a small school in his village in 2005. He started with just five students, all from underprivileged backgrounds, and a burning desire to make a difference.
Despite numerous obstacles and scarce resources, Ravi’s dedication never wavered. He provided free education, books and even meals to the children. His school soon started to grow as more and more parents began to realize the importance of education.

Today, Ravi’s school, aptly named ‘Shiksha’, has over 300 students and has transformed the village’s outlook towards education. Women are now encouraged to pursue education and many of Ravi’s former students have gone on to achieve great things, thus breaking the cycle of poverty.
