🌱 What Happened
In the lush green surroundings of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a daring rescue mission took place in November 2021. The mission: to rescue Amrita, a 45-year-old female elephant suffering from severe malnutrition and neglect at a private tourist camp in Rajasthan.

Wildlife SOS, a non-profit organization, led the operation. With assistance from the Forest Department and local police, they transported Amrita over 350 kilometers to the Elephant Conservation and Care Centre in Mathura

Today, Amrita is thriving in her new home. She has gained a healthy amount of weight and enjoys a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables. Most importantly, she is free to roam and socialize with other rescued elephants in the vast, open sanctuary.
