Disturbed by the death of numerous snakes due to extreme heat conditions on a barren sandbar along the Brahmaputra River, Jadav decided to plant trees to combat soil erosion and incrementally transform the barren stretch into a vibrant ecosystem.

Over forty years, his tireless efforts resulted in a 1,360-acre forest, now known as ‘Molai Forest’, home to Bengal tigers, Indian rhinoceros, over 100 deer and rabbits, and several species of birds. His lone endeavor single-handedly revived the flora and fauna of the area, which was on the verge of desertification.

Today, his school “Asha O Ashwasana” (Hope and Assurance) provides free education, meals and healthcare check-ups to more than 70 children. Rao himself dropped out of school after class 7 due to financial constraints, but his passion for education never diminished. He firmly believes, “No child should be denied education due to poverty.”
